• Complete a lactation & breastfeeding course
• Set up appointment with a lactation consultant
• Work with the breastfeeding mom/partner to design a breastfeeding plan
Support a breastfeeding mom/partner by preparing a designated spot and providing comfort items for breastfeeding/pumping such as:
• Comfortable chair
• Water/tea
• Pillow
• Reading material
• Make a playlist
• Nipple cream
• Snacks
• Nightlight
Support during the late night/early morning hours
• Change diaper
• Burp
• Swaddle and rock baby
• Give baby skin-to-skin
Give breastfeeding mom/partner a daily break
• Some breastfeeding moms/partners may want to arrange a set time for a walk
• Take baby for a walk, read to/play with baby, take a nap, give baby skin-to-skin
• Offer words of encouragement to mom/partner (i.e. “You’re doing a great job.”)
